Welcome to EduLand! By using our app, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). Please read them carefully.


1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using EduLand (the "Service", "App", "we", "us", or "our"), you agree to be bound by:

  • These Terms of Service
  • Our Privacy Policy
  • Our Community Guidelines

If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.

By creating an account or continuing to use the App, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms (our End User License Agreement – EULA).


2. Eligibility

EduLand is intended only for adults.

To use EduLand, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be a student enrolled in a university, college, or comparable educational institution
  • Provide accurate information during registration
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations

By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you meet these requirements.

We reserve the right to:

  • Verify your age and student status at any time
  • Suspend or terminate accounts that do not meet our eligibility requirements

EduLand is not intended for children or minors under 18. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we may delete or restrict the account.


3. Account Security

You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials
  • All activity that occurs under your account
  • Immediately notifying us of any unauthorized use or security breach

We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your account.

You agree not to share your account with others and not to sell, transfer, or assign your account.


4. Privacy and Personal Data

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy (available in the app or on our website) for details on how we collect, use, store, and protect your data.

Examples of data that may be processed include:

  • Email address and basic account information
  • Anonymous content you create (posts, messages, marketplace listings, events)
  • Technical and usage data (e.g., crash logs, performance metrics, anonymized analytics)

Some profile fields (such as display name, avatar, or certain demographic details like gender) may be optional and are not required for the core functionality of the app. We do not require non-essential personal information that is not relevant to the core operation of EduLand.

You are responsible for the information you choose to share in the app and should not share sensitive personal information that you are not comfortable disclosing.


5. User-Generated Content & Community Guidelines

EduLand allows users to create and share content, including but not limited to:

  • Anonymous posts, replies, and messages
  • Group chats and 1:1 chats
  • Marketplace listings and event posts
  • Usernames, avatars, and profile information

You retain ownership of the content you create. However, you agree that all content must comply with:

  • These Terms
  • Our Community Guidelines
  • Applicable laws and regulations

You are solely responsible for the content you post, send, or share in the Service.


6. Prohibited Content and Conduct (Zero Tolerance)

EduLand has ZERO TOLERANCE for objectionable content, abuse, and exploitation. You agree not to post, share, promote, or engage in any of the following (non-exhaustive list):

6.1 Child Safety & Sexual Content

  • Any form of child sexual abuse material (CSAM)
  • Sexual content involving minors, grooming, or exploitation
  • Solicitation of minors or attempts to contact underage individuals
  • Sharing, requesting, or trading sexual images of any person without consent

Any suspicion or report of CSAM or child exploitation may be reported to the appropriate authorities.

6.2 Harassment, Hate & Abuse

  • Hate speech or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any protected characteristic
  • Bullying, targeted harassment, or coordinated abuse
  • Threats of violence or harm against individuals or groups

6.3 Violence, Self-Harm & Dangerous Acts

  • Graphic violence or promotion of violent acts
  • Encouraging self-harm, suicide, or dangerous behavior
  • Terrorism, extremism, or incitement to violence

6.4 Illegal & Unsafe Activities

  • Promotion, sale, or distribution of illegal drugs, controlled substances, weapons, or other illegal items
  • Fraud, scams, or deceptive practices
  • Human trafficking, exploitation, or any form of organized criminal activity

6.5 Privacy & Identity

  • Doxxing or sharing another person’s private information (e.g., real name, address, phone number, ID documents) without explicit consent
  • Impersonation of another person or entity
  • Catfishing, identity fraud, or misrepresenting your status in harmful ways

6.6 Spam, Manipulation & Technical Abuse

  • Unsolicited ads, spam, or mass messaging
  • Posting malicious links or attempting phishing attacks
  • Using bots, scrapers, or automated tools without our prior written consent
  • Attempting to hack, disrupt, reverse engineer, or overload the Service

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to determine what constitutes objectionable content or behavior.


7. Safety Tools, Moderation & 24-Hour Response

Because EduLand allows anonymous and user-generated content, we implement safety features and moderation processes, including:

7.1 In-App Safety Features

  • Content filtering and automated moderation tools to reduce harmful or objectionable content
  • In-app reporting so users can report posts, messages, listings, events, or profiles that violate these Terms or community rules
  • Block / mute features allowing you to block or limit interactions with abusive users
  • Controls to delete your own posts, listings, messages, and account from within the app

7.2 Moderation and Response Time

We take user safety seriously and commit to:

  • Reviewing reports of objectionable content and abusive users
  • Acting on reports in a timely manner, typically within 24 hours, which may include:
    • Removing or hiding the reported content
    • Limiting functionality for the offending account
    • Temporarily suspending or permanently banning users who violate our policies

For serious violations (e.g., child sexual exploitation, credible threats of violence, extreme harassment):

  • We may immediately and permanently ban the user
  • We may report the incident to relevant authorities when required by law or when we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect individuals or the public
  • We may preserve logs and evidence to cooperate with law enforcement

7.3 No Tolerance Notice

By using EduLand, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users
  • Your account may be restricted or terminated at any time if you violate these rules

8. Marketplace Rules

EduLand provides a student-focused marketplace to post and find:

  • Roommates and housing opportunities
  • Second-hand books, notes, and study materials
  • Furniture and student essentials
  • Other student-relevant goods or services (where legally allowed)

8.1 Seller Obligations

As a seller, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate, honest, and non-misleading listings
  • Offer only legal, non-prohibited items
  • Clearly describe condition, defects, and relevant details

8.2 Buyer Obligations

As a buyer, you agree to:

  • Use safe and secure methods to meet or transact
  • Exercise judgment and caution, especially in face-to-face meetings
  • Respect sellers and negotiate fairly

8.3 Prohibited Items

You may not use the marketplace for:

  • Drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or controlled substances
  • Weapons, explosives, or dangerous items
  • Stolen, counterfeit, or fraudulent goods
  • Adult content or adult services
  • Prescription medications
  • Hazardous materials or anything illegal in your jurisdiction

8.4 Our Role

EduLand is not a party to marketplace transactions. We:

  • Do not hold payments or provide escrow services
  • Do not guarantee the quality, safety, or legality of items
  • Are not responsible for disputes between buyers and sellers
  • Are not liable for fraud, theft, or loss related to transactions

You transact at your own risk and are responsible for complying with applicable laws.


9. Intellectual Property (EduLand’s Rights)

The Service, including but not limited to:

  • Design, user interface, and visual elements
  • Logos, trademarks, and branding
  • Software, code, and underlying technology

is owned or licensed by EduLand and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You may not:

  • Copy, modify, or create derivative works based on our App or content
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code
  • Use our trademarks or logos without prior written permission
  • Remove or alter any copyright or proprietary notices

10. License to User Content

10.1 Your Ownership

You retain ownership of the content you create and post on EduLand (e.g., messages, posts, listings, events, avatars).

10.2 License You Grant to Us

By posting content, you grant EduLand a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable license to:

  • Host, store, display, reproduce, and distribute your content within the Service
  • Modify or adapt content as needed for technical and moderation purposes
  • Use anonymized and aggregated data for analytics, security, and improvement of the Service

This license continues for as long as your content is stored in the Service, and may survive account deletion for as long as:

  • The content is retained for legal, security, or fraud-prevention reasons, or
  • The content remains visible to other users who received or interacted with it (e.g., messages already delivered).

You are solely responsible for ensuring you have all necessary rights to grant this license.


11. Third-Party Services and Links

The Service may include:

  • Links to third-party websites, apps, or services
  • Integration with third-party tools (e.g., analytics, crash reporting, authentication providers, payment providers)

We are not responsible for:

  • The availability, content, or accuracy of third-party services
  • Third-party privacy practices and terms
  • Any damage or loss arising from your interaction with third parties

Your use of third-party services is at your own risk and subject to their terms and privacy policies.


12. Service Provided “As Is”

EduLand is provided on an “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to:

  • Merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
  • Non-infringement
  • Availability, reliability, or error-free operation
  • Accuracy or completeness of any content or information

We do not guarantee that:

  • The Service will always be secure or free from bugs, viruses, or other harmful components
  • Any specific result or outcome will be achieved through the Service

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, EduLand and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for:

  • Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses
  • Any disputes between users (including marketplace, chat, or event-related disputes)
  • User-generated content or actions of other users
  • Unauthorized access to or alteration of your data or account

Where liability cannot be fully excluded, our total aggregate liability for all claims related to the Service is limited to the amount you have paid to use EduLand in the previous 12 months (currently $0 for free users), to the extent permitted by law.

Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations of liability; in such cases, these limitations apply only to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.


14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless EduLand and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

  • Your use of the Service
  • Your user content or conduct
  • Your violation of these Terms or our Community Guidelines
  • Your violation of any law or third-party rights

15. Changes to the Service

We reserve the right to:

  • Modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time
  • Introduce new features (including paid or premium features)
  • Change limits, rules, or technical requirements

We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of major changes, but are not obligated to maintain any specific feature or functionality.


16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will:

  • Update the “Effective Date” at the top of this document
  • Provide notice via the app and/or email where appropriate
  • Where required by law, provide a reasonable notice period before changes take effect

Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Service and delete your account.


17. Termination

17.1 By You

You may terminate your account at any time via the in-app settings. Upon termination:

  • Your account and associated data will be handled according to our Privacy Policy
  • You will lose access to the Service and your content
  • Certain sections of these Terms will continue to apply (e.g., Intellectual Property, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification)

17.2 By Us

We may suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, if:

  • You violate these Terms or our Community Guidelines
  • You engage in illegal, harmful, or abusive behavior
  • We are required to do so by law or court order
  • We decide to discontinue the Service in whole or in part

We are not liable for any loss or damage resulting from account suspension or termination.


18. Dispute Resolution

18.1 Informal Resolution

Before initiating formal proceedings, you agree to first contact us at [email protected] and attempt to resolve your concern informally. We will try to respond within a reasonable timeframe.

18.2 Formal Resolution

If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, it will be resolved in accordance with applicable law and jurisdiction as defined in the section below.


19. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Turkey, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Unless otherwise required by local consumer protection laws:

  • Any disputes shall be brought exclusively in the competent courts of Istanbul, Turkey.

For users located in the European Union or other regions with mandatory consumer rights, nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights or your ability to bring proceedings in your country of residence where required by law.


20. Force Majeure

We are not liable for delays or failures in performance resulting from events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to:

  • Natural disasters, pandemics, or acts of God
  • War, terrorism, or civil unrest
  • Government actions or regulations
  • Internet, infrastructure, or power outages

21. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect. The invalid provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable.


22. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines, constitute the entire agreement between you and EduLand regarding the Service and supersede all prior or contemporaneous agreements.


23. No Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that right or provision. Any waiver must be in writing and signed by us.


24. Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your rights and obligations under them without our prior written consent. We may assign or transfer these Terms, in whole or in part, to any affiliate, successor, or acquirer without restriction.
